Jason is a sales manager living in Shanghai along with his family. As a young boy, he fancied travelling all over the world. He finds very little time for leisure with his demanding job of meeting clients across China every week. As a busy person, he devotes whatevet leisure time he could avail with his family. Despite such busy schedule, Jason has not forgotten his liking for cooking food.
Given the tight schedules, Jason prefers light-weight luggage and almost never checks-in his luggage. As most of the client interactions are pre-scheduled, he could ill-afford missing a meeting and do not mind paying a premium to be on time. For the meetings, Jason carries a light-weight laptop as he would need a lot of ready information on hand to answer many of the queries. He also supplements his laptop with an iPad if the meetings are in an initation stage , fow which a casual preparation is enough.
Even though Jason owns branded goods such as Mont Blanc, Coach, Braun Buffel, Seiko etc., he does not seem to display loyalty twoards any brand. For him, the most important thing is that any thing he uses should not hamper his work. He loves to be simple, but his job sometimes require him to be dressed in business attire. He therefore is very concerned with his luggage as his job demands him to travel on very short notices. Jason can be easily persuaded to switch brands and sometimes goes by his friends' recommendations. Jason, even though does not think he is price conscious, he places higher value for quality when purchaseing any goods.
The weeklong observations imply that Jason is more driven by higher quality goods, but does not display loyalty towards any brand. For him, what matters is whether something lasts longer and functional. He carries Samsonite and is a very satisfied customer. Jason, however, thinks that there are many affordable luggage with similar qualities and would probably consider other brands in the place of Samsonite. He places trust on some of the well-regarded Chinese brands locally, even though they do not command any recognition beyond Chinese market. His style has vacillated considerably and switched brands quite often.
Summary of Diary
Always on the move, Jason trusts his calendar more than anything. He captures everything on his phone and religiously follows his schedule with as little disruption as he can. He will be more worried about the outcomes of his meetings and spends considerable time on preparation, while at the same time takes quick power naps to slowly quench his desire to catch up on the lost sleep. He trusts his Samsonite luggage as it has been serving him for more than 5 years without a hitch and likes the build quality.
